Prolog:
Hello, We are back after a hiatus. The last couple of months have been a little hectic and my computer has been acting up off late. Those are the lame excuses for not getting any shots out - There are a ton of shots piled up in the queue for me to process. So hopefully, I will get into posting something quite regularly in the days to come.
The Scene:
I've briefly touched upon it in these posts: Marina Bay Sands. Helix Bridge.
While the structure is architecturally weird, I have my own reasons photographically as well on why I don't usually like it. The building is usually lit up 2-4 times brighter than the rest of the structures in that area. So it becomes a huge challenge to tackle it and get it in a single frame - One might usually have to resort to HDR techniques which is quite painstaking to get it right. I do shoot brackets every now and then but then, most of them end up being stowed away comfortably into my External Backup drive for eternity as I'm too lazy to process. There is however another way to attack this problem - refer the above links (in case you didn't already) and you will know what I'm talking about. :-o)
To redeem myself from this predicament - an opportunity presented itself : in the form of the iLight Marina Bay Festival. Not only did they turn off the regular, bright and shitty lights, they also projected some cool patterns onto it making it look beautiful - the eyesore did indeed become an attraction! I decided not to miss out this time and went there over the last weekend - twice actually, so a few more from the festival is lined up in the days to come. Stay tuned!
The Shot:
